FOSS Kit Science
In 3rd grade, we expect students to use the scientific method when completing science experiments. The scientific method has certain vocabulary that we use to help students understand each step of the scientific method and why it is done. In 3rd grade science we use the FOSS kits to complete four different units. Each unit lasts four to six weeks and students will complete activities, experiments, and will journal about their experiences using a scientific notebook. These notebooks will not come home until the very last day of school and you can expect them to be full of learning and fun.
Units of Study:
Introduction to the Scientific Method: We will spend the first few weeks of science learning how to use the scientific method while doing fun experiments that help us learn more about science, eachother, and how we work together
Structures of Life: Students will learn how different organisms develop and change overtime
Water: Students will learn more about the water cycle and how water affects life on Earth.
States of Matter: Students will learn more about solids, liquids, and gases.
