Words Their Way Spelling
Unlike in previous grades, your student will NOT have weekly spelling words that come home to be studied. We will be using a program called Words Their Way Spelling. This program puts students into specific lists based on where they currently are in understanding parts of words. We will be doing all spelling practice in class working in differentiated groups allowing students to do more then "memorize" weekly lists only to forget these words the next week!

Rainbow WordsWrite the words using the different colors of the rainbow, should write each word a minimum of 5 times.
Word SearchCreate a word search that includes all of your words. Then have someone at your house look for them! Did you spell them correctly?
Write a TV CommercialUsing the spelling words, create a TV commercial that tries to sell something related to the spelling words! You will want to convince people to buy or use your product! Have fun!

SentencesWrite a sentence that includes each word. Write the spelling word in a different color so that it stands out.
StorytimeWrite a story that includes all of the words on your spelling list. Think about what the theme of the story is that we are reading in literacy and base your story around that theme! You should write the spelling words in a different color, or underline them!
Add them up!Each letter of is worth a certain amount. Add up your spelling words to find out which is worth the most! You can always play against someone too- you each pick a word, whichever word is worth the most that person wins the round!
Example: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, J=10 Apple: 1+16+16+12+5= 50 points! Word PyramidStack up your word to create a pyramid with the letters! Your first letter should be on top!
Example: Forest F Fo For Fore Fores Forest Spelling Word Comic StripUse your spelling words to create a comic strip. Your comic strip should make sense, include spelling words, and have at least 4 boxes.
