Writer's Workshop
During writer's workshop students are given ample time to do what makes them a better writer; WRITE! Writer's workshop starts off with a 5-10 minute writing lesson and then is followed by writing time and conferences with peers or the teacher. In order to improve writing, students must be given time to write and rewrite multiple times. At the end of writer's workshop students will be given time to share their writing with the entire class.
In my classroom, students become authors and I love to see how much they grow from the beginning to the end of the year in writing. I normally do not send home their writing pieces until the very end of the unit. I use all of their writing pieces at the end to show them their growth through the unit. If you have questions on anything your child is writing about or any grading that is on their papers, please feel free to ask.
